In a change to our originally sceduled Minicine at The Mills this coming Thursday (January 22), we will now be showing Norwegian teen sex comedy Turn Me On, Dammit! (2011).
In Skoddeheimen, Norway, 15-year-old Alma is consumed by her hormones and fantasies that range from sweetly romantic images of Artur, the boyfriend she yearns for, to daydreams about practically everybody she lays eyes on.
Telephone sex hotline addict Alma is one day approached by Arthur in a very bizarre manner. She tells her best friends about this and her story makes her the talk of the town. When Arthur denies the episode, she’s subsequently considered a slandering crank and becomes an outcast.
Filled with sardonic wit, Turn Me On, Dammit! won the Screnplay Prize at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and perfectly captures the boredom and isolation experienced by teenagers living in communities they feel alienated from.
The screening takes place at The Palace Picturhouse in the Armley Mills Industrial Museum on Thursday 22 January at 7PM. Free hot drinks and cakes, made by the award-winning Noisette Bakehouse, will be available on arrival and we will have selection of short films before the main feature.
Tickets are available from our online ticket office.
So join us as we still say hej to all that is Nordic!
