There are only three more sleeps until Yorkshire finally loses its mind over the Tour de France and The Grand Départ gets underway, right here in Leeds.
It wasn’t too long ago that we travelled to Selby for their stage of the Tour de Cinema and since then we’ve been looking at all sorts of cycling and bike themed short films. Here are five of our favourites:
Bicycle, Bicycle, You Are My Bicycle dir. Monty Buckles – This music video for now-defunct pop-punk band Be Your Own Pet conveys the rebellious side of riding a bike.
Boy And Bicycle dir. Ridley Scott – Long before Gladiator or Blade Runner or even Alien, legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott’s very first film was this delightful short featuring younger brother Tony.
The Spokesman dir. Dean Saffron – A brilliant introduction to the history of the bicycle from enthusiast and collector James, all in a three minutes.
The Quiet Season dir. Brandon Neubert – A woman ruminates on the solitude of cycling in Autumn. Now let’s all move to the country and where lycra.
The Man Who Lived on His Bike dir. Guillaume Blanchet – A man lives on his bike. What’s not to love?
