Final Films for 2013

So as October fast approaches we thought it was about time we announced our final batch of films for our 2013 programme. Ready? Here goes…

As you may have already seen, earlier today we announced the winner of our recent audience choice poll to be screened in October. The winner was Molly’s Way (2005) written, along with Esther Bernstorff, and directed by Emily Atef. For more details of the film head to here.

Did you know that upon its release Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie (1990) was the highest grossing independent film in history? Well it was and as we’re all about independent cinema with thought it was due a re-screening.

Join us as we chow down on homemade pizza and watch Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael do battle with the evil Shredder and his mischevious foot clan. With nights growing longer, colder and wetter the end of the year can be a bit of a bummer so we wanted to have a little bit of fun with this one, dudes.

Ahem.

Finally, we’ve been all over the world this year – Korea, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Iran and The States – and to finish it off we thought we’d bring things back home to Leeds.

Since its initial premiere back in 2011, We Are Poets has continued to wow audiences with its showcasing of the exceptional talents of the poets from Leeds Young Authors who travelled to Washington D.C. to represent the UK in the international Poetry Slam Awards. Inspiring and moving, full of dignity and promise the film has been called “mandatory viewing” and we agree.

See you at a screening soon!
