We can now confirm that this month’s screening will be Thai horror film Shutter (2004). It is written and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom, with the additional writing credit of Sopon Sukdapisit. Although it is a pretty straight forward genre piece, not particularly subverting expectations or deviating from recognisable plot points, it is a very solid horror film with a clear plot, engaging characters, some VERY haunting scenes and an abundance of tension built throughout. The ability to get all of these things into a film is something not to be scoffed at. So often a film gets one or two of the above elements, but then massively lets down on at least one.
This should be a real thrill ride of a screening. Hope you all of have fun. That is, all of you who were lucky enough to get a ticket.
